Glassline® SwabPharma is a patented technology from VDV Lubricants
Glassline® SwabPharma, a patented technology from VDV Lubricants, is now fully formulated to offer limited and safe oil mist after swabbing. Oil mist produced after swabbing of heated moulds is considerably reduced to avoid operator exposition to dangerous emissions. Additionally, emissions such as PAH – Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons have been decreased by more than 80%. Obviously, moulds and glass remain perfectly lubricated and clean.
Glassline® SwabPharma has been tested and approved on pharmaceutical glass, and does not contain ingredients of animal origin.
This new technology has been developed with SGD Pharma.
The final objective is to make this safety improvement available for the entire glass container and tableware productions.
Lubrication of the blank mould is a critical step during hot-end process; it will determine the quality of the following parameters:
•    gob loading
•    highest possible surface contact gob/mould
•    uniform and stable heat transfer gob/mould
By using a swabbing compound during this high temperature operation, you are introducing contaminants in the system gob/mould and the ambient air. For a safe and efficient process, you need absolutely to reduce the negative impacts of these contaminants:
•    Excessive carbon deposit on the mould surface
•    Excessive oil mist and its dangerous components
Both contaminants are the results of oxidation reaction at high temperature from the swabbing compounds. Without going in theoretical an...
