OCMI's SA60 sealing/stretching machine
O CMI’s sealing/stretching machine model SA is the best solution to obtain high quality stemware articles and high productivity at the same time. This machine - available in the versions with 42, 48 or 60 chucks - enables to process bowls with or without moil coming from press&blow or press machines. Production speed depends on the machine version but can be estimated between 70 and 80 pieces per minute with the SA60. Of course, the stretching operation effects this data.
The machine can be equipped with two loading devices for bowls and stems, and one unloading device for finished articles. The disk-shaped stems are loaded using an optional vacuum system.
The most recent improvement applied to the OCMI sealing machine replaced the previous electro-mechanical inspection system for stem heights, was realized on the loading conveyor.
OCMI’s new inspection system works with a camera detecting the different heights of bowls in the chucks. This camera sends a signal to a mechanical device, adjusting the position of upper chucks within a distance of + 2mm from the 0 point.
The final purpose is to have the same sealing point for all articles.
The sealing process is carried out in three steps, by means of adjustable high quality burners:
1) heating of bowls and stems in the parts to be sealed;
2) upward movement of the lower chucks in order to position the items very close to each other;
3) final permeation and sealing of the two items.

After sealing, the stretching section can be used or not according to the features of the final products. The machine can process stemware with total maximum height of 300mm (with moil) and obtain a maximum stretching length of 190mm.
OCMI’s sealing machine is totally independent from other equipment of the production line, which means more flexibility in the study and development phases.
