Those of you who are subscribers to our daily news service, or even just regular visitors to our home page, will have noticed important developments regarding our new web portal. Preparing this article, we spoke to the main people involved in its development, who provided information on the services and innovations that are to be found for advertisers and visitors alike.

Set up in 1996, the glassOnline portal was one of the first for the glass industry. With its many different sectors, such as trade opportunities, equipment offered and wanted, glass antiques, forum, online tools for professionals and, of course, the possibility of subscription to our publications, glassOnline has, since then, been a daily source of global updated information for both professionals and enthusiasts of the glass sector. Regular services provided by glassOnline have, more recently, also been expanded to include the possibility of downloading the magazines free of charge.

Keeping up with the times
Never before has the expression ‘keeping up with the times’ been so suitable. In fact, the entire glassOnline portal has undergone a radical renewal regarding graphics and services, to become more ideal for everyday use to check the latest news, find out about events or taking a look at the companies advertising on the website, while maintaining and enhancing its regular services, and adding more.

Internet – Web 2.0
The most recent development of the worldwide web – Web 2.0 – remains unknown and unexplored territory for many. Also known as New web, it includes a series of online applications that provide an extremely high level of interaction, such as blogs, social networks, online encyclopaedias, forums, and much more. These extremely advanced and versatile applications are, however, still greatly underestimated and overlooked.
